Insiders say that Chameleone lacked academic qualifications and other documents that were needed by the vetting committee.
The two were vetted last week for the highest position in the city which is currently occupied by Mr Erias Lukwago who crossed from the Democratic Party to the Forum for Democratic Change.
Chameleone is said to have held an emergency meeting with his campaign committee and they agreed Chameleone should run as an independent candidate. He believes he has whatever it takes to win the race.
“His campaign committee unanimously agreed that Chameleone will be running as an independent candidate. They believe NUP committee wasn’t fair to him,” source told this website.
