The number of internet users in China hit 940 million at the end of June, up 3.8 percent from three months earlier, according to a report on the country’s internet development released Monday.
The increase brought the country’s internet availability rate to 67.0 percent, with 30.4 percent of internet users living in rural areas, according to the 46th bi-annual statistical report from the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).
The report says that 932 million Chinese used mobile phones to surf the internet by the end of June, 2020, 99.2 percent of the total internet users, leveling off with that in March.
The report says that by the end of June, 2020, the number of people using the network video reached 888 million, 37.77 million more than in March 2020, 94.5 percent of the total Internet users.
According to the report, the percentage of Chinese internet users using online financial services rose to 85.7 percent in the first half of 2018.
The report says that by the end of June, 2020, 747 million people used mobile phones to shop online, 39.47 million more than in March .
