COVID-19 patient in ICU at Rubaga to be evacuated to Mulago hospital

The ministry of health is working around the clock to evacuate a COVID-19 patient who is in Intensive Care Unit ICU at Rubaga hospital, to Mulago National Referral hospital for further management.

The patient is one of the alerts from Kampala who had been under quarantine, according to the ministry.

“The surveillance teams are investigating possible source of infection of the Rubaga Hospital case and communication will be made accordingly” Dr Henry Mwebesa the Director General Health Services says.

Uganda confirmed 5 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and all these were alerts and contacts already under quarantine. 4 of the alerts are from Kampala, while 1 is a contact to a previously confirmed case.

8 truck drivers (7 Kenyans) and (1 Tanzanian) who tested positive for COVID-19 at border points were not permitted entry into the country.

Currently, Uganda has 1,140 confirmed COVID-19 cases 1,028 cumulative recoveries and 2 COVID-19 related Deaths.

The deaths are of a 34 year old woman in Namisindwa District and another 80 year old woman in Mengo Kampala.

Still in Namisindwa, a man with symptoms similar to those of the disease collapsed and died at a private clinic leaving the population scared. Samples have been drawn from the body and taken for testing.
