The tallying of votes and declaration of winners in Bundibugyo has been suspended until further notice, following a misunderstanding between candidate’s agents and the NRM district elections office.
The fracas in and outside the tally room forced the district security committee to hold a crisis meeting, which later resolved to halt the exercise as they engage the party’s elections office in Kampala.
According to the RDC Bundibugyo Asimwe Grace, NRM elections office was engaged to intervene in sorting out some discrepancies in tallying of votes which has caused tension and delays in declaration of winners especially Bughendera constituency.
The situation at the tally centre became worse when the Minister Kibanzanga attempted to forcefully enter the tallying room with his official convoy something his opponent Kiiza Acrobat said was an act of intimidation to his supporters and the elections officers.
Kibanzanga was later intercepted by police and angry supporters of his opponents outside the tallying centre at the RDC’s boardroom.
