There have been reports of Anthrax outbreak in the country affecting animals especially in western Uganda as well as the West Nile regions and this has caused panic among farmers and the communities in the regions.
Anthrax is a disease caused by a spore-forming bacterium called bacillus anthracis which can be crossed from animals to humans.
Dr. Moses Amanyire the Veterinary Officer Mbarara Municipality says its spread is very high saying that the rate at which the victims die is very high advising the public to take much extra care especially buying animal products and meat.
However, Dr. Amanyire says these days the public has resorted to eating dead animals that have died from unknown diseases.
He furthermore, describes that once the animal is oozing blood from the eyes, ears, mouth the farmer should dig a whole and bury the animal.
