Corona virus restrictions are taking effect in the Netherlands, the U.K, the Czech Republic and other parts of Europe as nations try to reverse an alarming second wave in new cases.
The continent is seeing an average of 100,000 new cases per day, a number higher than any other time during the pandemic.
According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, Europe’s infection rate has been growing rapidly in the last 77 days.
In some nations, the new lockdown measures have stocked confusion and anger.
The dramatic resurgence of the virus across the continent punctured whatever illusions Europeans had that they had weathered the worst of the pandemic. Countries like Spain and Italy, which welcomed back holiday goers over the summer, are again among the front-runners in overall cases.
