Forum for Democratic Change-FDC Party has revealed plans of working with other opposition political parties to protect each other from what they term “physical” attacks and vote protection.
This was during a press conference where the party leadership unveiled a team to handle campaigns for party flag bearers at all levels, headed by Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa, the Director General.
Forum for Democratic Change-FDC Party is to embark on pre-nomination activities for the presidential flag bearer in order for him to acquaint himself with the ordinary people.
According to the party leadership, they have secured the signatures they need to nominate their president, Patrick Amuriat Obboi, and are currently scrutinizing them before submission to the Electoral Commission.
On the just concluded nominations of Members of parliament, 316 people were nominated on the FDC ticket, out of the anticipated 450. Others were nominated as FDC-leaning independents.
Following the attack on National Unity Platform-NUP Party offices, FDC, citing the 2016 attack on her H/Qs, says it’s ready to defend itself should such a thing happen again.
Meanwhile, the party has unveiled a team to handle the campaign dubbed, “born fire” that aims at getting votes for all FDC flag bearers. In this arrangement, 2.5 million members of the party, including district chairpersons, will look for votes at household level.
The FDC pre-nomination program starts this Thursday in kalangala, Masaka, kayunga, Buvuma, kiboga, Hoima, Luweero, Mbale, and Kapchorwa, and will concluded with launch of the presidential manifesto.
