The Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, on behalf of the national COVID-19 taskforce, has received a consignment of facemasks worth 100 Million Shillings from the Forum of South African Businesses in Uganda.
The donation comes at a time when Uganda is at stage 4 of COVID-19 infections, characterized by community spread.
South African Business fraternity in Uganda under their umbrella body, FOSABU, has donated facemasks worth 100 Million shillings to National Covid-19 task force. The donation is aimed at curbing further spread of COVID-19.
As of 10th November, 2020, the ministry of health recorded 289 new infections, 6 new deaths, and 103 new recoveries, setting the cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 14,993.
With a membership of over 80 enterprises, FOSABU members are advocating for business continuity in the COVID-19 era, under safe working environment.
It’s believed that corporate social Initiatives such as this, play a pivotal role in enhancing trade, reason why government, in June this year, offered Stimulus packages to businesses in a bid to recover economic activity from the pandemic shocks.
