Gulu is a city in the Northern Region of Uganda. It is the commercial and administrative centre of Gulu District.
There are three hospitals in the city: St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, and Gulu Independent Hospital, and yet in-land roads are still impassable to access health services.

Inadequate social services to meet the demands of the growing population, environmental degradation, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, high levels of illiteracy and crime are some of the challenges Gulu Municipality currently faces.

Gulu people believe that holding regular, free and fair elections is the hallmark of building a democratic society.
