Campaign period in Uganda ahead of the 2021 general elections is gaining pace, with many candidates working within standard operating procedures to preach their gospel.
Though there have been instances of violence at isolated campaign venues, one can commandingly say that at 97% of the venues, it has largely been peaceful.
A case in point is in Makindye, where mayoral aspirant, Kalungi Kirumira, has enjoyed a decent run as he woos the electorate.
His latest experience has taken him to Ggaba, where he was dismayed by what he saw, but promised to rectify if elected.
Kalungi’s manifesto focuses mainly on service delivery in the key areas of health, education, and sanitation, with sights set on partnerships to enable achieve this.
Kalungi will, for the position, contest several others, including Ali Nganda Mulya’nyama
Uganda’s elections will start 11th January, 2020, with councilors for older persons at Sub County level. Presidential and legislators are on 14th January, 2020, while mayors like Kalungi, will be on 20th January, 2020.
The process will continue till February 3rd, 2020.
