Lira district has created three more Isolation centers after a surge in new infections in the region.
The Resident District Commission Lira Milton Odongo said the referral hospital has 32 Covid 19 Patients yet the facility has capacity to handle 20 patients.

The current surge in Covid 19 cases has left lira district taskforce with no alternative but to open three more isolation centers.

Lira district currently has 32 patients in its 20 bed capacity treatment facility prompting authorities to designate more isolation centers.

Early this week, there was panic at the district after a senior medical officer at the Regional Referral Hospital Dr Patrick Odongo succumbed to covid 19.
A front desk staff at the district headquarters also tested positive for the virus leading to the temporary closer of the facility. It was later opened two days after fumigation

Leaders are now calling for community vigilance and adherence to the set covid 19 guidelines
As of Wednesday four medical workers and some district staff in lira had tested positive
They are also calling for support to feed those at the quarantine center.
