Residents of Kaabong are benefiting from some of government fulfilled pledges in the 2016/2021 Manifesto.
Communities in Lodigo sub-county are using the water for development project for irrigation, grazing and domestic consumption.
The project serves the neighboring districts of Karenga, Kabong and as well international communities of kenya and south sudan.
Kaabong district boasts of the man-made water for development project that has supported agriculture and livestock for the locals and nomads.
The 10M Cubic liter water project cost government 1.8 Billion shillings and it is monitored by the water management committee.
Water is supplied by gravity to water traps where livestock get access to water to prevent contaminating the dam since it is also used for domestic consumption. Residents of Longoromit Village, Lodigo subcounty, Kaabong district are the primary beneficiaries.
To further utilize the project, Fishing was introduced as a supplementary economic activity in the area
The project as well supports a demonstration irrigation scheme site where farmers are equipped with skills on how to grow a variety of crops.
To improve productivity in Kaabong, extension for grant needs to be improved.
The water development project is a fulfilment of the 2016/2021 NRM manifesto geared at improving people’s livelihoods.
