Police has issued fifty thousand copies of standard operating procedure hand book for law enforcement officers across the country.
This follows a presidential directive to the inspector general of police to issue manual books for all police officer and local defense unit personnel on how to use guns.
According to Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the hand book is to help officers appreciate proper and legal use of fire arms.
He was briefing the media in Kampala.

Some time back, President Yoweri Museveni directed the inspector general of police, Martin Okoth Ochola, to issue out manuals to all police officers and LDUs across the country on how to use guns.
He directed the IGP with a printing date of not later than 15th of October, 2020.
To effect that order, police, Monday, issued 50,000 copies of manual handbooks for law enforcement officers.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says the handbook will guide officers on how well to use fire arms.

Enanga adds that the manual includes, among others, guidelines on use of fire arms, and use of loud speakers in public.

He urges officers to make sure they get the hand book and use it for its intended purposes.

President Museveni directed issuing of maual books for police officers and LDUs citing two incidents of shootings in Bugiri and Katakwi during the NRM primaries.
