High Court Criminal division has declined to grant more time and to admit traditional processes known as Mato Put in a trial as it was requested by businessman, Mathew Kanyamunyu, during the last court sitting.
According to Judge Stephen Mubiru, the Mato-put system doesn’t protect one’s human rights, and it’s not time bound, among other grounds.
The accused, after being abandoned by their legal team in the last court sitting, are now represented by Kampala Associated Advocates.
Judge Stephen Mubiru adjourned this case to 12th November, 2020 for further hearing.
Kanyanyamunyu and his girl friend, Cynthia Munywangari, are facing charges of murder after killing Kenneth Akena around Lugogo Bypass, on 12th October, 2016.
