Nomination of candidates for parliamentary seats in mityana district has been peaceful on the first day with candidates observing the standard operating procedures.
The district EC returning officer in Mityana Makubuya Steven told UBC that out of the 15 candidates sofar nominated, only two had issues.
UBC has learnt that Mityana Woman Mp also Minister for ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba Nalule, will be nominated tomorrow.
Security has been tight at Ssingo County headquarters in Mityana district, the nomination center for parliamentary aspirants in the district. This was to ensure observance of the electoral Commission guidelines that banned processions, something that was followed by the aspirants.
Out of the 23 expected aspirants from the entire district, 15 were nominated Thursday, mostly from National Unity Platform, DP and independents.
The Electoral Commission returning officer for Mityana, Steven Makubuya, hailed the cooperation from the candidates and described day one of nomination a success.
