The government of Uganda is in discussions with its Kenya counterpart on how best they can lift the ban imposed on Uganda’s dairy products.
This was disclosed by the State minister of finance for investment and privatization Hon Evelyn Anite asserting that Uganda’s dairy products will earn big when the ban is lifted.
Uganda milk exporters were banned from the Kenya market on accusations of flooding its market with cheap milk prices.
But according to Evelyn Anite the state minister of Finance for investment and privatization, both governments are in deep talks on the lifting the ban.
The ban has not only affected milk processors but also dairy farmers.
However, minister Anite is optimistic this challenge will soon be resolved if both governments reach a mutual understanding.
Anite urged Ugandans to consume locally made products.
Processors have also decried unstable power supply and inaccessibility to credit but government promised to address them.
