WAKISO TEACHERS ENGAGE IN TREE PLANTING TO GUARD ENVIRONMENT

Uganda has joined the world to commemorate international teachers’ day.
The day raises awareness on the role of teachers in development. This year’s theme is ‘teachers leading in crisis, reimagining the future’.

A teacher plays an important role in nurturing children into functional adults.
The world today remembers the role teachers play in educating learners with skills that make individuals functional.
Amidst the covid-19 pandemic, Uganda national teachers’ union-UNATU has commemorated world teachers’ day.

At Seguku primary school in Wakiso district, it was a low key event. Teachers planted trees.

During this period of COVID-19 lockdown, Teachers have become creative and engaged in many ventures like agriculture and other small businesses like briquette making.

Over 250 schools in Wakiso will plant ten trees each as a sign of protecting the environmental, medicinal purposes and for food.
