President Museveni has directed an audit into the shooting of people by stray bullets by some Armed personnel, including security officers that led to the killing of bystanders during the riots following the arrest of Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert.
While addressing the country on security and COVID-19, President Museveni also condemned acts of hooliganism, saying what was witnessed on the streets of Kampala will not happen again.
Chaos, Riots and shootings were reported in some parts of the country on 18th November this year, following arrest of National Unity Platform-NUP presidential candidate, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, in Luuka district.
The chaotic incidents, which left over 50 people, including the innocent, dead and several others nursing severe injuries, were perpetuated by some followers of the national unity platform party.
While addressing the country on Sunday, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, condemned acts of hooliganism manifested by opposition supporters that led to lose of lives and property.
During the same scuffle, several security officers became victim of the angry attackers, just like a one ASP, Consilata Kasule.
President Museveni, on this note, warned perpetrators over the likely legal ramifications.
Nonetheless, President Museveni directed an investigation into alleged misconduct of some security forces.
He further directed an audit into the shooting of several people by stray bullets that killed a number of bystanders.
On the contrary, President Museveni noted that government will compensate families that lost lives and also those who lost property, only if they can prove that they were not involved in the riots.
We should recall that over 100 people were arrested and more than 50 lost their lives following the almost three-day chaotic and violent period.
