Chinese President Xi Jinping learned about mechanized and large-scale farming at a farmers’ cooperative in Lishu County of Siping City, northeast China’s Jilin Province, on Wednesday.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, talked with cooperative members kindly and expressed his satisfaction with their work.
“Today I’m here mainly to learn about the farmers’ cooperative. This is a very meaningful thing for our country. You have explored a road of agricultural cooperation that conforms to the situation of your province, of your county. The plain here is ideal for mechanized operation, and the black soil is a gift from nature. With such a foundation, the overall improvement of agriculture, science and technology level and farmers’ competence has all been displayed here, which is very good. To better stick to the road of agricultural cooperation, we need to summarize experience and carry out different agricultural cooperations in different regions across the country,” said Xi.
In 2019, Jilin’s total annual output edged up 2.45 billion kilograms to reach 38.78 billion kilograms, with the net growth leading the country by constituting 41.2 percent of its total increase.
